The Internet is not going to let the Cincinnati Zoo forget about Harambe the gorilla anytime soon.

In another blow, on Saturday Mr Maynard’s Twitter account was hacked and numerous tweets about Harambe were sent, with one including a lewd Harambe hashtag that has been widely used on the internet.

A zoo in the USA where a gorilla was killed earlier this year has deleted its Twitter account after constant online trolls about the animal’s death, the media reported.

In May, the story of Harambe sparked national attention after the 400-pound Western Lowland Gorilla was shot and killed by zoo officials in order to protect a three-year-old boy who had fallen into the gorilla exhibit.

It’s time to give The Cincinnati Zoo a break. He added that the internet’s Harambe obsession was making it more hard for the zoo community to move on.

“We are not amused by the memes, petitions, and signs about Harambe”, Maynard told the AP.

Social media users trying to visit the Cincinnati Zoo’s Twitter account on Tuesday were redirected to a page that says: “Sorry, that page doesn’t exist”.

Maynard and other zoo officials are fed up with the repeated reminders of Harambe’s death.

In the months following Harambe’s death, the Cincinnati Zoo’s Facebook and Twitter pages have continued to be overwhelmed with comments, posts and memes of Harambe.

The Associated Press contributed reporting.

The online harassment towards the zoo got so bad that they officially deactivated their twitter account last night.
