Sturridge frustrated over wide role at Liverpool
Daniel Sturridge has admitted that he doesn’t enjoy playing outside of his favoured centre-forward role after featuring on the right wing for Liverpool in recent games.

The England global looked off the pace away at Burnley last weekend and Divock Origi started up top in the EFL Cup second-round win against Burton Albion on Tuesday night. “I’m a centre-forward”, he told the Guardian.
“In the modern day game you have to try and be flexible but everyone knows my best position”. I don’t know exactly what he said, but we have talks.
“Well, I have to do a job for the team”, he said. I’m on autopilot there.
Klopp has warned some players to expect to be disappointed as he does not intend to use cup competitions to give fringe players a run out.
In an ideal world, I’d say both. Origi starting the goal rout, and second half substitute Sturridge putting in a more assured display than against Burnley – adding two goals sandwiched either side of a Tom Naylor own goal. “If I’m put in that position, I have to play there”.
Liverpool have given Sakho the green light to leave on a temporary move after falling out of favour with head coach Jurgen Klopp. I don’t want to play Daniel as a wide player, but he can play there. It’s not that you play there and wait until something happens. “He stretched himself, and he had an issue with his ankle, so that’s what is most concerning at the moment”, Klopp said after the match.
The striker has vented his frustration at being played on the flanks, and indicated that he wants to return to his natural position of being the centre forward at Liverpool.
And he made it clear he is unhappy Klopp has used him in the unfamiliar role.
“We don’t have 60-something games and to have a good atmosphere all players need to see their perspective and that is what we are working for”. You do them on auto pilot.

Klopp and Sturridge are preparing for Liverpool’s trip to Tottenham in the Premier League this weekend, where the Reds are likely to be without Emre Can and Divock Origi.
