West Ham begin life in the London Stadium with a win
Boro’s Cristhian Stuani struck twice in the first half to earn the points, while a Michail Antonio header gave West Ham the spoils against a Bournemouth side reduced to 10 men in the 78th minute when midfielder Harry Arter was sent off.

Essex-based Ocean will be the Premier League club’s official travel partner for the next three years, gaining TV-visible advertising space on the giant digital screens at West Ham’s new London Stadium, formerly the Olympic Stadium.
Slaven Bilic felt West Ham just deserved their 1-0 victory over Bournemouth in their first Premier League match at their new London Stadium home.
West Ham exploited their numerical advantage with five minutes to play when Gokhan Tore lifted an inviting cross to the back post and Antonio flew in to head home from close range.
The turning point came when Arter, already on a booking, was dismissed in the 77th minute for a second yellow card after hauling down Cheikhou Kouyate on the halfway line.
The 27-year-old was injured during Thursday’s 1-1 draw away to Romanian champions Astra Giurgiu in their Europa League play-off first leg.
It was not. In mitigation for West Ham, they are adjusting to their new home, midweek travel fatigue and, even more so, -injuries. They want to get better this season, a big ask after the last campaign, and anything short of a win here would have been discouraging.
So it is onward for West Ham in their new stadium.
“It was not a good game but the lads were brilliant”, said Bilic.
It proved to be the victor for Slaven Bilic’s side.
There was marginally more urgency about Eddie Howe’s team in the second half and Josh King’s powerful 25-yard strike brought a fine save from West Ham goalkeeper Adrian.
– Slaven Bilic’s side won only its second of nine Premier League games since the start of last season without Dimitri Payet (W2 D5 L2).
The full-back concluded: “It is a great stadium, the pitch, the atmosphere, it really is special and we are really excited to be playing in this stadium”. “It’s the first one that burns”, Howe said.
“We know the rules, dissent will be yellow cards and that’s the one that burns”.
