Doctor Strange: Did Dan Harmon Accidentally Reveal Additional Villain?

Marvel Studios has recruited Dan Harmon to add some last minute scenes to new film Doctor Strange.

Doctor Strange opens November 4. Actor Benedict Wong said that a round of reshoots was completed earlier this month. Unfortunately, that’s about all that’s known about these scenes, which may be added into the movie.

For example, some of Harmon’s files had titles like, “Community Movie HT Script”, “Kaecilius_01_seducation”, and “Magical Mystery Tour”, meaning that there’s a good chance that Harmon was using the short clip on his podcast as an opportunity to good-naturedly mess with Marvel fans. It may be a big step up for him, but Harmon has shown his talent on TV (and the film Monster House), and we’ve already seen some Community alum go on to great success in the MCU. Perhaps we’ll find out what scenes he wrote post-release. Based in New York City’s Greenwich Village, Doctor Strange must act as an intermediary between the real world and what lies beyond, utilizing a vast array of metaphysical abilities and artifacts to protect the Marvel cinematic universe.

“I don’t think there are any wholesale reshot scenes”, he continued. “It’s mostly little shots within scenes to clarify points”.

It’s not clear if Dan Harmon will be credited alongside writers Scott Derrickson (who is also directing) and C. Robert Cargill (Sinister), who also get story credit alongside Prometheus writer Jon Spaihts.

The term “multi-dimensional”, of course, brings to mind Doctor Strange, whose primary villain Dormammu is often identified as “multi-dimensional”. Usually when writers are brought on for gigs like this, they don’t end up getting their name in the credits, but they still get a paycheck.
