Champions Leicester beat Swansea for first win of the season

Claudio Ranieri was quick to play down comparisons with N’Golo Kante drawn by Daniel Amartey, who impressed in the Foxes 2-1 win over Swansea.

Leicester defeated Swansea to earn their first win of the season, but Ranieri acknowledges more work needs to be done – especially between new forward pairing Jamie Vardy and Ahmed Musa, who came on as substitute after 75 mins. Summer signing Ron-Robert Zieler replaced him to make his debut for the club.

Swansea City coach Francesco Guidolin says champions Leicester City remain one of the Premier League’s top teams after his side fell to a 2-1 defeat at the King Power Stadium.

Ranieri revealed the Dane would need an operation, but was still likely to face Liverpool after the global break. Leicester played very well, they were strong like last season.

“It will take four of five days and he will be ready for the next match”.

“It was in the program Monday and he wanted to play today and after he felt something so we make the change”.

Goals from Jamie Vardy and Wes Morgan proved decisive on Saturday, with the visitors unable to force a draw despite Leroy Fer’s late header after Riyad Mahrez had missed a penalty. It was Vardy’s first goal of the season and reward for Leicester’s total dominance as a thunderstorm boomed around the King Power Stadium.

Kasper Schmeichel had to leave Leicester’s win over Swansea with a hernia issue.

Ranieri was asked before the game if opposing defences had figured Vardy out after last season’s top scorer failed to find the net against Hull and Arsenal. “It’s all a little bit different for Musa right now”, he said. “He can play centre-back, central midfielder, right-back, right winger, and I am very pleased with him”, Ranieri was quoted as saying on Skysports.

“In the second half we missed a penalty and the opponent got some confidence”.

“I was anxious in the first half but in the second half we had more courage. Now I speak with both lads”. “We played with more courage and intensity in the second half but Leicester deserved it”.

“They can play together and when they do they will frighten people”.
