Clinton has narrow advantage in Ohio
Hillary Clinton has a narrow advantage over Donald Trump in the swing state of OH, according to a new poll released Monday.

In the poll, 43 percent of Ohioans said they would vote for Democrat Hillary Clinton on November 8, while 39 percent said they would back Trump.
Meanwhile, independents back Trump and Clinton in equal measure – 35% – with a full 20% saying they’ll go for Johnson.
While Trump leads Clinton among white men 52 percent to 28 percent, Clinton leads Trump among white women 46 percent to 38 percent.
Clinton leads Trump among black, Hispanic and Asian voters 72% to 10%.
“Ohio has been nip and tuck for almost every presidential election since 1992”.
But if Ohio Gov. John Kasich had been the Republican Party’s nominee, it would be a completely different story. A solid 57% majority say they would have backed Kasich for president over 33% who would support Clinton if this had been the match-up.
During his erstwhile run for the presidency, Kasich repeatedly made the case he would be the strongest Republican against Clinton. In fact, 38% thought more highly of him because he is not supporting Trump. Forty-four percent said Kasich’s stance on Trump didn’t change their view of the governor.
The same poll shows GOP Sen.
Turning to the U.S. Senate race, the Monmouth University Poll finds GOP incumbent Rob Portman with a 48% to 40% lead over former Democratic governor Ted Strickland.
Ohioans have overwhelmingly negative impressions of the two party nominees. Just 17% said they thought less highly of him.

The Monmouth poll surveyed 402 OH residents likely to vote in November between August 18 and 21 with a roughly 5 percentage point margin of error. The poll was conducted by the Monmouth University Polling Institute in West Long Branch, NJ. It has a margin of error of 4.9 points.
