Multiple witnesses reported the shooting to authorities from different locations, but police officials in Los Angeles have not confirmed the reports of an active shooter. The 911 calls came from terminals 4, 7, and 8, law enforcement sources said.

Airport police searched the site after the reports, and urged passengers to “remain calm” in a Twitter message.

LAX has tweeted to say that reports of a shooting are not verified.

The Federal Aviation Administration implemented a ground stop for flights departing for LAX from airports west of and including Minnesota as the investigation unfolded, CBS reported.

A report of shots fired, which turned out to be false, caused panic at John F. Kennedy Airport in NY earlier this month. Many other evacuees are standing on the airport tarmac. Airport police told the AP that traffic to the terminal area has been closed.
