Winds pushed the fire south out of Big Canyon up onto the prairie and crossed highway 62.

In Northern California, firefighters made more gains on Friday against a wildfire 100 miles north of San Francisco that forced mountain-town dwellers to evacuate for the second time in days.

The smoke was carried into east from winds following Friday night’s storms.

“There are none. They’re all committed to other fires”, Beverlin said.

Two massive wildfires burning in remote, drought-stricken wild and pasture lands southeast of Clearlake have merged, covering almost 150 square miles in eastern Lake County and the outskirts of Napa and Yolo counties, Cal Fire officials said. It’s now 96 percent contained.
