Ryan Harlost was the star of the day, pitching a complete six innings while allowing just one run with eight strikeouts.

For the first time since Huntington Beach, California in 2011, a team from the United States has won the Little League World Series championship. That set up Conner Rush for a single to left field to score Abbadessa to put NY up 1-0. Harlost also scored the decisive run on a passed ball during a two-run fourth inning that provided Maine-Endwell with all the offensive support it would need.

Yoomin Lee homered for the Asia-Pacific champs from Seoul, but struck out with runners on first and second to end the game.

“I can tell you right now, I don’t think too many kids in America are ever going to experience this”, said Brody Raleigh’s father Matt.

In the sixth inning, Seum Kwon led off with an infield single, although he was retired when Youbin Choi hit into a fielder’s choice to shortstop for the first out.

“It’s just been fantastic”, Abbadessa said.

In addition to his offensive work, Harlost was also the starting pitcher for NY, and he pitched a fantastic game. “It’s been fun the whole week and we’re glad that it turned out this way”.

That was all South Korea could get, however as New York’s defense came up big all afternoon. With a runner on first an inning later, Harlost snagged a hard-hit liner at the mound, tossed to first to get the putout and escape the third unscathed. “I’m really proud of my team”.
