Bangladesh to host first Afghan ODI series

Nazmul Hassan said that the Afghan team, who are based in India, had agreed to play three ODIs at Dhaka´s Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on September 25, 28 and 30.

The matches will be the first ODIs hosted by Bangladesh since previous year when they won series against Pakistan, India, South Africa and Zimbabwe.

“This will be the first series between Bangladesh and Afghanistan”. The tour with games scheduled for September 25, 28 and October 1 at the Shere Bangla National Stadium will see the associate nation play a bilateral series against a non-Zimbabwe full-member side for the first time.

Inzamam was speaking following a historic win by the Afghan team against the powerful team of West Indies late in March which the Afghan team defeated by 6 runs in their last match of Super 10 of ICC World Twenty20.

Bangladesh opening batsman Tamim Iqbal fractured a finger during training on Saturday and will be out of cricket for up to a month, the country’s cricket board said. The England ODI squad is scheduled to arrive in Bangladesh on Sep 30 for a five-week tour where Bangladesh will play the first ODI against England on Oct 7. It will be the first time Bangladesh will have played its first One-Day International since November 2015.

The teams will compete in a three-match series
