From Leicester’s point of view the only thing missing was the finishing touch but everything came together just after the half-hour mark in the most familiar fashion as Danny Drinkwater, who set up five goals for Vardy last season, linked with up the England striker once again.

This was a return to the verve and vigour of last season’s title triumph, with Wes Morgan adding a second and Riyad Mahrez missing a penalty, and offered a hint that the Leicester rollercoaster is not grinding to a halt any time soon. It was also Ranieri’s 100th Premier League win as a manager.

The Leicester ‘keeper limped off in the second half, prompting concerns that he could miss the club’s first ever foray into the Champions League, which starts next month with a trip to Club Brugge. “Of course, some seasons, it is a little more and some a little less but never, never [will] the goalscorer forget the way to goal”.

Leicester City’s Jamie Vardy runs through to score their first goal against Swansea City during their Premier League match at King Power Stadium, Aug 27, 2016. The Russian league is very different from English football, they play a slower tempo.

The England worldwide failed to get off the mark for the Foxes in their first two Premier League games, which ultimately ended in disappointment with one point taken from a possible six. It was tough. The rain was unbelievable.

“We played well on the counter-attack against Arsenal, they worry about Jamie, so we find another solution to surprise the opponents”. It was like water polo! The Italian said he was not anxious and called Vardy a natural goalscorer – he was proved right.

“But I think the first half was outstanding for us and we had to score more than one goal”. “They are two, him and Vardy, and he wanted to shoot”.

Guidolin said: “I was anxious in the first half”.

“In the second half something changed after a little meeting in the dressing room and although they scored another goal we began to play with more aggression and intensity. I tell the players at half-time the game is not finished”.
