HBO releases new trailer for sci-fi psychological thriller Westworld
The trailer also pulls back the curtain on Anthony Hopkins’ Dr. Robert Ford, the creative director of Westworld itself, who insists that it is not a theme park.

“You and everyone you know were built to gratify the desires of people who pay to visit your world”, warns the programmer of a virtual reality theme park in the new trailer for HBO’s Westworld. I’m especially enthused about the show delving into strong thematic issues like human nature and the morality (and dangers) of artificial intelligence, and with a killer behind-the-scenes team that includes showrunners Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy and executive producer J.J.
INSIDER already broke down the basics of “Westworld” here, but check out what’s going on in the latest trailer below, and tune in this October when the series premieres.
If that timing sounds familiar, it’s because this is typically when HBO airs Game of Thrones during each season run, so it looks like the network are banking on Westworld becoming just as popular. Set at the intersection of the reimagined past and the near future, it explores a world in which every human appetite, no matter how depraved or noble, can be indulged.

The series also stars Tessa Thompson (“Creed”), Sidse Babett Knudsen (“Borgen”), Jimmi Simpson (HBO’s “The Newsroom”), Rodrigo Santoro (“Focus”, “The 33”), Shannon Woodward (“Raising Hope”), Ingrid Bolsø Berdal (“Chernobyl Diaries”), Ben Barnes (“The Chronicles of Narnia” films), Simon Quarterman (“The Devil Inside”), Angela Sarafyan (“The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn”), Luke Hemsworth (“Infini”) and Clifton Collins, Jr. Inspired by the motion picture “Westworld”, written and directed by Michael Crichton.
