Former Senator Publishes Endorsement to Clinton on Web

After labeling former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush “a puppet to his donors”, Trump bragged to reporters about turning down a $5 million donation offer, saying he would spend $1 billion on his own campaign “if I had to”.

The candidates spoke before about 2,000 Democrats at the Surf Ballroom, the site of the last concert by rock pioneers Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens and The Big Bopper before their fatal 1959 plane crash, later dubbed “The Day the Music Died”.

“It’s irrelevant”, he said when asked by CNN’s Jeremy Diamond outside the Iowa State Fair on how much he has spent so far on his campaign. Tom Harkin joined Clinton to promote his recent endorsement. The second came after a line urging equal pay for women.

His refrain: “Action, not words”.

“The good news is that because of President Obama’s tough decisions, our country’s economy overall is doing better”, he said.

Whether Democratic caucus-goers in Iowa will be willing to give Webb a pass on those positions is a legitimate question, but the approach was welcomed by at least one man in the crowd Thursday.
