But even he admitted that his cries were quieted on Sunday night when Beyonce dominated the MTV VMAs by cleaning up awards and owning her performance.

Bey’s visual album Lemonade was an MVP at the awards, taking out the Breakthrough Long Form Video award and well, y’know, shifting the larger conversation in society regarding love, forgiveness, race and equality.

She closed the show with “Formation“, ending her staggering performance surrounded by dozens of dancers arranged in the “woman” symbol.

Fans who picked up on the Venus symbol commented that it was the ideal close to Formation, a song celebrating black womanhood.

Sure, Rhianna may have the clout to perform four seperate times throughout the night, but Bey just needed to do it once to receive The People’s nomination for Queen Of the 2016 VMAs.

Kanye West has a habit of running onto stages at awards shows and saying that Beyonce should have won whatever award was being handed to someone else.
