Wenger could ‘gamble’ on Giroud, Koscielny and Ozil fitness

Leicester saw summer signing Nampalys Mendy limp off early in the second half, but then went close when Riyad Mahrez’s free kick zipped just over the crossbar.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has highlighted the significant threat posed by Riyad Mahrez ahead of Saturday’s clash with Leicester – but refused to confirm if he made a move to sign the PFA Player of the Year this summer.

However, he has now joined the likes of club captain Wes Morgan, Jamie Vardy, Kasper Schmeichel and Andy King in signing a deal that will keep him at the King Power Stadium.

“Maybe I will take a gamble on bringing them back early but I have 48 hours to decide that”, said Wenger.

Leicester will be looking to get their first points on Saturday when they host Arsenal at home – they will hope to do better than past year when they lost 5-2 back in September.

Arsenal beat Leicester twice last season, with the Foxes only losing one other league game to win the title by 10 points. All the players have said congratulations. Mesut Ozil, Laurent Koscielny and Olivier Giroud should all return after being rested on the opening weekend.

Arsenal follow up their trip to champions Leicester with games against Watford and Southampton prior to the first global break of the season. I am happy when I have this position, a lot of players.

Claudio Ranieri believes Leicester star Jamie Vardy is ready to land another body blow on Arsenal.

“Last season, we achieved the best thing we could in England”. We have good spirit and work well on the training ground.

The Foxes face Arsenal on Saturday and have defender Robert Huth available after serving a three-game suspension.

“It is a fantastic league and I would like to stay here as long as possible”, he told France Football.
