It came just days after another false alarm led to a panicked evacuation of Kennedy Airport in NY.
The travelers on the airfield caused the diversion of at least 27 flights to other airports and delayed 281 arrivals and departures.
Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) is the world’s seventh busiest by traffic.
However an individual “in Zorro costume has been detained” by airport police, airport authorities wrote on Twitter.
Reports of a gunman opening fire that turned out to be false caused panicked evacuations at Los Angeles International Airport on Sunday night, while flights to and from the airport saw major delays.
It’s a shocking news comes from the Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), airport police announced on Twitter handle late Sunday they were investigating statements of bullets being fired at Los Angeles Airport.
The Federal Aviation Administration implemented a ground stop for flights departing for LAX from airports west of and including Minnesota as the investigation unfolded, CBS reported.
“People evacuated from terminals are allowed back in as they pass through TSA screening”, Badlissi told City News Service.
Still, the panic brought the airport to a halt as the terminals were cleared and incoming flights were partially shut down for 30 minutes. People told CNN reporters that travelers rushed through exits into restricted areas.
However, a ground stop was initiated, the central terminal was closed and traffic was closed for drivers entering the airport Sunday evening.
“Report of shooting at LAX proven to be LOUD NOISES only”.
Neiman added that there were no shots fired and no injuries. Two flights were canceled, airport spokeswoman Nancy Castles said.
