Women bare their breasts for gender equality

Women gathered in Los Angeles, New York City, New Hampshire’s Hampton Beach, and a number of other cities to march-often topless-and draw attention to the strictures condemning women’s breasts as obscene.

The marchers walked behind a giant inflatable pink breast that had the phrase “equal topless rights” written on it. Onlookers gawked and took photos as the parade participants went by.

The event in New York City was one of several planned for cities across the globe. Gatherings were planned in New Hampshire, Denver, Los Angeles and more.

Nadine Gray, president of GoTopless, said she hopes the events will take away the shock and awe around seeing female breasts.

There were reports of other GoTopless events happening all around the world in places such as France, Canada, Columbia and Germany.

Cities and states have varying laws regarding whether it’s legal for women to go topless in public.

There are only a handful of states in America where it is illegal for women to go topless.

It’s been legal to be bare-breasted in NY since 1992.

The annual worldwide day of protest is a call for women to have the same right as men to bare their chests in public.

“It’s still a big deal for our society to see women topless”, she said.
