Traffic in NY on Sunday evening was a nightmare in midtown thanks to MTV’s Video Music Awards, but one of the artists was even caught in the gridlock himself – Aubrey Graham, aka Drake.

‘I’d like to thank my attractive daughter and incredible husband for all of their support, ‘ she said, in an ethereal lace white dress.

It appears that after the “Hotline Bling” singer delivered his lengthy tribute to his superstar crush and attempted to give her a kiss on the mouth (much to her chagrin), the pair made their way backstage where Rihanna greeted and thanked her family and friends. Thank you to Drake, for that fantastic speech.

Queen Bey walked the red carpet with several of the women featured in the “Lemonade” visual album – mothers of gun violence victims among them. “She’s a living, breathing legend in our industry, ladies and gentleman, the recipient of the Michael Jackson Vanguard Award for 2016, Rihanna”.

She moved seamlessly between outfits, songs and stages, singing with passion and strength.

HOLLYWOOD-It’s the music award show, where anything can happen.

Before the VMAs, Drake rented out a huge billboard in Los Angeles and congratulated her on being this year’s recipient of the coveted Video Vanguard award.

He debuted the video for “Fade”, which focused on Teyana Taylor dancing in a thong and sports bra alone in a weightlifting gym, showering nude and transforming into an animal.

During the awards show Sunday, he took the stage, clad in black tuxedo, and proceeded to melt everyone watching into a puddle of romantic wistfulness with a heartfelt presentation of the VMAs high honor.

Michael Phelps said he’s been inspired by hip-hop music before introducing Future, who Phelps said he listened to before swimming. Puff Daddy, who presented the award, said Drake was stuck in traffic. Of course he didn’t thank Swift.

The pre-show also saw the awarding of the Song of the Summer award.

She also won Best Female Video for “Hold Up” and Best Longform Video for “Lemonade” to name just a few.
