AP’s Kathleen Carroll defends Clinton investigation but admits ‘sloppy’ tweet

The problem is that there are probably a number of significant questions and concerns that ought to be raised about the Clinton family and its foundation, and the relationship between it and the former Secretary of State, who may soon become president of the United States.

That follows an earlier report this week that said the Clinton family would wind down some of the foundation’s activities if Hillary Clinton wins the White House.

While Clinton has denied any wrongdoing, the foundation has said that if she is elected, they will no longer accept donations from corporate entities of foreign governments.

Clinton said foundation executives are looking for organizations with which to partner.

“My work as secretary of state was not influenced by any outside forces”, Clinton said. “It must be shut down immediately”. “They had been unresponsive from the State Department until we sued them to get the documents, so you know we’re glad to have plenty of conversations with people about that”. The foundation would shrink its operations, “spin off” all foreign endeavors and stop taking donations from foreign individuals and foreign governments.

Three days later, the Associated Press is still standing by its story and has yet to correct its tweet, despite near unanimous agreement among other journalists that the tweet, at least, was false.

Pushing back, Clinton said of the AP report, “I know there’s a lot of smoke and there’s no fire”. But Thursday’s speech was a more comprehensive indictment that linked five separate lines of attack: Clinton’s meeting with Clinton Foundation donors as secretary of state, her use of a private email server, her speeches to Wall Street, the Benghazi attack, and Trump’s claims that the November election is rigged. “If any American voter is troubled by the idea that the Clintons want to continue working to solve the AIDS crisis on the side while Hillary Clinton is president, then don’t vote for her”.

“Because she was not using a government account – or even a commercial account like Gmail – there was no archiving at all of her emails, so it is not surprising that we discovered emails that were not on Secretary Clinton’s system in 2014, when she produced the 30,000 emails to the State Department”.

Late Wednesday, former President Bill Clinton said that he’s proud of people who have donated to the Clinton Foundation and the work the organization has done.

Now, you must agree that it’s ironic, if not hypocritical, for Donald Trump to be leading the charge against the Clinton Foundation.

“We’re trying to do good things”, Bill Clinton said. But rather than having meetings with people who also make philanthropic contributions to major worldwide charities, they tend to insist that donors show up at fundraising events so that a campaign check can be handed over person-to-person.

“I believe the public will be and is considering my full record and experience as they consider their choice for president”, she added, saying that “obviously” she was thankful that the Justice Department had concluded that there is no basis for her to be indicted on the matter. I’m proud of the work that my husband started.
