Trevor Siemian has been confirmed as the starting quarterback for the Denver Broncos.

The seventh-round pick from the 2015, with a year-long apprenticeship under Peyton Manning on his resume to go with all of one December kneel-down as his only regular-season snap, is the now the guy who will succeed Manning as the Broncos’ quarterback.

During a December game against the Steelers a year ago, Brock Osweiler started in place of Peyton Manning, moving Siemian up on the depth chart.

Head coach Gary Kubiak pointed out Monday that Lynch could use all the quality reps he can get.

Siemian didn’t put up insane numbers during the postseason, throwing for 285 yards with one touchdown, two interceptions and a quarterback rating of 70.4. He had played in six postseason games and had seven years in the National Football League while his counterparts had one regular-season snap between them. I’m very proud of him. If the Broncos are unable to trade Sanchez, all signs point to them releasing him, saving the team $3.5 million on the salary cap and a seventh round pick.

Even though those numbers don’t stand out, Mason reports that numbers alone don’t fully tell the story of how much Siemian is growing in the huddle and is also establishing his presence.

According to cbssports.com, Sanchez was quoted in saying after the game, “I just squandered a great opportunity to separate myself and I put the team in a bad situation”.

Denver Broncos quarterback Mark Sanchez, back, looks as as quarterback Trevor Siemian takes part in a drill during the team’s NFL football practice at the Broncos’ headquarters on Monday, Aug. 29, 2016, in Englewood, Colo.

It’s well known that the Denver Broncos won the Super Bowl last year with below average quarterback statistics throughout the entire year.

Boston said he’s been watching film of Siemian and praised his mechanics. “But again I wasn’t thinking about that too much”.

Sanchez started the preseason opener and had a TD and an INT. Siemian started the second game with Sanchez coming off the bench. “I was trying to (keep it) inside the building so to speak and take it one day at a time and improve and take good coaching and be a good teammate”. It was his first work since he suffered a concussion in the second quarter of the August 20 preseason loss to San Francisco.

The Panthers – while not overly concerned with Denver’s quarterback choice – also weren’t publicly dismissing Siemian because of his dearth of experience.
