Kvitova wins in Connecticut
Making brilliant return after brilliant return, Radwanska conducted a 6-1, 6-1 annihilation of two-time defending champion and No. 6 seed Petra Kvitova on Friday night before 5,073 on Stadium Court at the Connecticut Tennis Center. She lost to eventual champion Garbine Muguruza.

“I was just running out (of) steam”, she said. Radwanska sweeps Kvitova 6-1, 6-1 to improve to a 5-6 record in their singles head to head.
In hindsight, “I don’t think that was the right play”, Bouchard said. “A couple of great matches”. She leaves, en route to NY and the U.S. Open, with her 19th career WTA singles title in tow after a dominating week at the Connecticut Tennis Center.
The final leg of the US Open Series, the Connecticut Open in New Haven, Connecticut is now in its business end as the quarterfinal stage concluded Thursday. I was pushing myself 100% from the first round, working hard here. She will face top-seeded Algnieszka Radwanska. I’ll take Svitolina in the first meeting between the two.
I want to play my game.
“It’s great to have her by my side”, Svitolina added. I need to be calm with my plan. She was playing this tournament for the fourth time and had never before made it out of the first round.
Larsson is the third lucky loser to advance to the semifinals in New Haven, joining Samantha Stosur (2006) and Lesia Tsurenko (2015).

It was only the second time Mirza and Niculescu had played together, and the first was more than four years ago. Radwanska saved two set points to force the tiebreaker, and took five of the last six points to win it. Mirza and temporary partner Monica Niculescu capped off their newly rekindled doubles partnership with their first title together at the Connecticut Open, edging past Kateryna Bondarenko and Chuang Chia-Jung 7-5, 6-4. The second seeded Mirza and Niculescu were able to save nine break point attempts from Klepac and Srebotnik.
