The 27-year-old from Plymouth accumulated 318.00 points across her five dives to advance in 10th place.

RIO DE JANEIRO-Chinese teenager Ren Qian claimed the gold medal in the women’s individual 10 metre platform event on Thursday, giving her country a clean sweep of the champion titles in the sport’s women events.
China has now won six of the seven diving gold medals decided so far at the Rio Olympics.
Si made it as Chinese one-two, as she achieved a final score of 419.40 points to seal the silver medal.
The podium was completed by Canada’s Meaghan Benfeito, whose tally of 389.20 points proved enough to hold off the challenge of fourth place Paola Espiosa. Every dive is ideal pretty much.
Seven of the eight diving events in the Rio Games have now concluded with China taking gold in all but one.
“I gave so much to my synchro, I couldn’t get as much buzz from today”.
The cliched belief suggests she is merely part of the system, another competitor handpicked from an early age and plonked on the conveyer belt to Olympic gold.
“Actually, I was feeling quite calm when I was doing the dives”, Ren said.
Ren and Si dominated the field during the preliminaries, continuing the nation’s fine showing in the diving events, and with defending champion Kim Kuk of North Korea failing to qualify for the final, the duo were seen as the favourites for the gold. “I focused on each individual dive and I think that’s why I got the medal”. “I didn’t overthink about the final score”.
Ren increased her lead with a 91.20, and with Si only managing a 79.20, the gap was more than 15 points entering the final round. “I think I’ll train and work harder from now on so I can focus on my future”. “You can consider me a perfectionist”, the Chengdu-native said.

“When I won I cried with joy”, Ren told Xinhua, after becoming China’s first Olympic medal victor born after 2000. “It’s just a little bit of fine tuning on those dives and hopefully next time around I can do a little better”. “I expected to win the gold but I can accept the silver because Ren was better”.
