United States has reached 10000th Syrian refugee, White House says
In the previous year, Syrian refugees have been placed in 39 different states, with California and MI hosting the largest numbers.

Alice Wells, the USA ambassador to Jordan, announced on Monday that a group of several hundred Syrian families leaving for new homes in Virginia and California will include the 10,000th Syrian refugee the US has accepted, meeting a goal set by President Barack Obama in 2015.
(Earnest) “Collecting bio-metric information, doing in-person interviews, doing background checks, running their information through a variety of national security and worldwide databases”. The Obama administration has said that refugees fleeing war and persecution are the most scrutinized of all immigrants who come into the United States.

The United States accepted fewer than 1,700 Syrian refugees in fiscal year.
The Syrian refugees admitted to the United States are chosen from United Nations camps and then vetted by USA security and intelligence agencies.
The resettlement program focuses on the most vulnerable refugees, including those who were subjected to violence or torture or are sick.
The Obama administration’s objective was to reach the refugee goal by the beginning of the next fiscal year, which begins on October 1.
The family of four -mom, dad, a 6-year-old and an 8-year-old- come to Charlottesville from Homs, a war-torn city where almost 6,000 were captured and more than 2,000 were killed during a three-year siege.
Leaders at the IRC’s Charlottesville branch say this area is an ideal place for refugees to live.
The number of CWS volunteers has quadrupled in the past year, as have donations to help refugees settle into their new homes.
Almost 5 million Syrians are now registered with the United Nations refugee agency.
Refugees are screened intensively before being allowed into the country.
About one million Syrians have requested asylum to Europe, according to official figures.
Hillary Clinton, meanwhile, has said the USA isn’t doing enough, and called for a plan to admit an additional 65,000 refugees, the Wall Street Journal reported. Many of those turned away are young men seen to pose a greater risk to USA security.

In spite of the frequent claims to diversity advanced by the Obama administration, the makeup of the refugees being admitted to the USA are not representative of Syria’s diverse population.
