CHINA is shocked and strongly condemns a vehicle bombing near the Chinese Embassy in Kyrgyzstan, a Foreign Ministry spokesperson said Tuesday.

Kyrgyzstan’s GKNB state security service said it was investigating the blast but did not provide further details.

The attack has been deemed as a suicide bombing, possibly a terrorist attack, reports said.

One of three suicide bombers who carried out a deadly atack blamed on Islamic State at the worldwide airport in the Turkish city Istanbul in June was reported to be from Kyrgyzstan.

Employees of the United States and Chinese embassies were evacuated in the aftermath of the blast, which also blew in windows of nearby homes.

Another official at the embassy told China Plus News that an investigation is underway.
