Two charged in Chicago shooting

Chicago police charged two brothers with first-degree murder and first-degree attempted murder in the shooting death of Dwyane Wade’s cousin Nykea Aldridge. She had just left the Dulles School of Excellence around 3:30 p.m.in the 6300-block of South Calumet The Sorells brothers’ intended target was a 25-year-old man, who works as an Uber driver and was visiting friends at Parkway Gardens, according to prosecutors.

Johnson described the Sorrells brothers as known “gang members”, and suggested that Chicago’s problem with gun violence is out of proportion to its population.

United States rapper and activist Che “Rhymefest” Smith has invited Donald Trump to Chicago to counter the Republican nominee’s bleak picture of the city. Another Twitter user asked Trump: “You say Clinton just sees black people as votes”. The Police Service of Scotland said it arrested both pilots Saturday at Glasgow Airport and both men, ages 45 and 35, would be arraigned.

The city of 2.7 million has more shootings and murders than any other United States city, according to Federal Bureau of Investigation and Chicago police data.

The two brothers charged with killing the cousin of National Basketball Association star Dwyane Wade will appear in court Monday.

Much of the increase in Chicago homicides is related to more shootings, which have been climbing since 2013 but have spiked this year to 2,312 as of early Monday. Surveillance cameras in the area recorded footage of the shooting and also show both men carrying guns prior to the shooting, court documents said.

Aldridge’s death reshapes the focus of Wade’s return to Chicago after spending 13 years in Miami as a member of the Heat.

Chicago has been experiencing a major uptick in gun violence this year, largely centered on a few South and West Side neighborhoods, after years of declines.

Pounding the lectern for emphasis, the mayor said, “You have a mother who is trying to enroll her children at school”.

Chicago Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson also told CNN affiliate WBBM, “I am sick about reporting on murders every weekend”. According to WGN, Aldridge was caught in the crossfire and died at the hospital. “Another act of senseless gun violence”, Wade tweeted on Friday. In other words, if you buy that particular theory, only the first and worst of the trio clearly came from Trump.

Hours later, Mr Trump tweeted his condolences for the basketball star’s family.

“The criminal justice system is not up to what is required as it deals with guns, easy access and gun violence in holding those [offenders] accountable”, the mayor said.

There were 449 homicides in the city between the start of the year and early Monday morning, a almost 50 percent increase over the same period last year, police said.
