Tube Passenger Risks Life To Save Man Who Fell On Tracks

In other news, TfL has confirmed that there will be “an enhanced policing presence during the overnight services”, with more than 100 police officers being deployed to patrol the 144 stations that will be open throughout the night each weekend.

The British Transport Police was full of praise for the quick thinking yet unidentified commuter.

“Passengers on the Night Tube must be able to travel with the same confidence they are used to during the day”, said Sadiq Khan.

The Night Tube is set to launch on the Central and Victoria lines on 19 August and the updated API includes the planned journey timetables for these services.

The Night Tube was originally announced in September 2014 by Boris Johnson, when he was London mayor, and had been due to start on 12 September 2015.

“Bar and nightclub staff have arguably been overlooked during the discussions regarding the introduction of the service, but an all-night service will travel much easier for those industrious members of staff who work throughout the night”.

Police have admitted that preventing higher crime rates on the night tube will be a challenge, but they aim for the service to be as safe as during the day. “That’s why we’re investing £3.4m to ensure that dedicated officers are on hand to offer the support and visible reassurance Londoners expect”.

Praising the work of the bystander, Superintendent Chris Horton, of British Transport Police, said: “Going onto the tracks is extremely risky but the bravery of this man has to be praised”.

Over the last weekend, the 24-hour Tube service was trialled to ensure it doesn’t disrupt normal passenger services. NY has offered a 24-hour subway service since 1904.

“However, we are not complacent and we are aware that extra Tube services are likely to mean greater footfall in the area, allowing people to visit licensed premises for longer, or to vary their working hours within the City, for instance”. Any minicab driver who picks up an unbooked passenger off the street is acting illegally.
