Gomez is being held in the Oklahoma County Jail facing a first degree murder charge.
On examining the body, police discovered a large cross had been placed on top of Geneva’s body and she had suffered major trauma to her face and neck.
Over at the Gomez home near NW 15th and McKinley, friends and family have left behind candles and flowers and rosaries to honor the life and tragic death of Geneva Gomez.
During an interview with police, Juanita Gomez allegedly admitted to believing her daughter was possessed by the devil.
The woman is accused of killing her daughter with a crucifix.
“She kept mumbling “devil” and ‘money, ‘” said Merlos, who said the mother and daughter had appeared to get along, only fighting occasionally, before the incident.
Court documents show Juanita admitted to police she forced a crucifix down her daughter’s throat and watched her daughter die.
Oklahoma news outlet News 9 reports that she crammed a religious medallion down Geneva’s throat until she saw blood come out.
According to the police report, the mother then said she placed her daughter’s body in the position of the cross and washed her.
