Gary Sanchez’s scorching start with Yankees now includes an Major League Baseball record

Rookie Gary Sanchez had another two hits for the Yankees but lined out to center field and grounded out softly in the sixth before getting a double in the eighth when the Orioles held a five-run lead. But I think I’ve been inspired by the guys around me. He reached 11 career home runs faster than anyone in major league history 23 games, including two hitless games a year ago. As a result they were losing left and right, including some multi-game skids.

MIAMI – Clayton Richard pitched seven scoreless innings to win his first game of the year and Ryan Schimpf slugged a home run as San Diego defeated Miami at Marlins Park.

Gausman struck out nine Yankees, didn’t issue a walk and scattered seven hits in seven innings of work to bring his ERA down to 3.73. “A tough loss and we are going to try and get on another winning streak”. He’d thrown well several times, but had nothing to show for it.

Still, Judge isn’t going to change much about his approach and believes he’s just in a small slump. The Orioles fell at NY 13-5 on Saturday as their pitching broke down. It also helped the O’s build some slight breathing room for the second wild card spot, as the three teams hottest on their tail – the Tigers, Mariners and Astros – all lost August 28. It was also the third consecutive game in which Sanchez had homered. The veteran starter was finished after 6.2 innings piand was charged with three earned runs along with 8 strikeouts and two walks.

Sabathia and Gausman (7.0 IP, 7H, 9Ks, 0BB) matched zeroes for five innings before Pearce broke up the scoreless affair on a 2-2 pitch leading off the sixth. “If we do that, I’ll take our chances”.

Five pitches later, Pearce singled up the middle against Warren for a 3-0 lead.

The 5-foot-10 infielder extended his career-high hitting streak to seven games. Sanchez, however, got a little overeager and tried to go first-to-third on Teixeira’s single to right.

Trumbo connected in the eighth for a two-run shot off Ben Heller. They erased the sting and disappointment of allowing 27 runs and 36 hits the previous two days by getting an ace-like showing from Gausman along with big hits by Steve Pearce and Trumbo.

Jake McGee (1-3) got the win by pitching a flawless 10th, which included a strikeout of Bryce Harper that led to the reigning NL MVP being ejected. My goal is just to go deep in games. “It’s such a lofty number”.

“He’s a stud”, said the newly signed Tommy Hunter, who returned Sunday to the Orioles.

It takes a lot for a full-time player to move the needle on his batting average at this stage in the season, but Pedroia’s went up from.306 to.320 over his past three games.

“We’re playing good baseball and we’re winning series and that’s what we need to continue to do”, Girardi said. Chris Davis (109 in 2013), Jim Gentile (119 in 1961), Brady Anderson (120 in 1996) and Frank Robinson (123 in 1966) were faster.

Sabathia, in particular, was dominant early, preventing a single Orioles’ player from even reaching second base through those first five innings.

“He pitched well today”, manager Buck Showalter told MASN. Baltimore RHP Chris Tillman (shoulder bursitis) will throw Monday but the team does not expect him to return before September 9 or 10. He can come off the disabled list September 5, but Showalter said it would likely be a few days after that. 3B Chase Headley was out of the starting lineup again as the Yankees ride the production of 3B Ronald Torreyes. His record fell to 8-11 and his ERA fell to 4.31. They’re scheduled to start their three worst starters – lefty Wade Miley and righties Ubaldo Jimenez and Yovani Gallardo – while the Jays counter with their three best: right-hander Marco Estrada, followed by lefty J.A. Happ and righty Aaron Sanchez.

In their last game, the Yankees won by a margin of 10 runs. Dylan Bundy (7-5) was the loser.
