The manager was full of praise of Rashford once more after he converted Wayne Rooney’s cross two minutes into stoppage time to give United a 1-0 victory in torrential rain at the KCOM Stadium.
“We’ve got to focus on the worldwide break but obviously we have the big game against Manchester City when we come back”.
“In addition, we know exactly who he is and that he’s made a great impression at whatever club he’s played at”. I think we have bought well and we are going in a good direction. Rashford, who burst onto the scene last season under previous boss Louis van Gaal, would have thanked elder statesman Rooney for his victor.

“Of course we have had talks and I have no problem with Jose Mourinho”.
The comments of course have given Rooney food for thought as he heads off on worldwide duty, and the hope is he will return determined to prove to his boss he still should be one of the first names on the team sheet. Imagine I go into the Europa League and I change the four [current] defenders and I play [Matteo] Darmian, [Phil] Jones, [Chris] Smalling and [Marcos] Rojo and I rest the other four players.
