Haringey GCSE results 10 per cent better than past year
Among those celebrating their success was head Boy, Andrew Gaskell who earned A*s in every single subject giving him a total of 10 A*s, Jasmine Hewitt who got 11 A* and A grades and Joshua Ball, Sally Sweeney and Lana Robinson who got great results with 10 A*s and As.

Ross, of Chapel Lane, Hadleigh, said: “It’s been really hard work because I’ve been balancing the two, but the school’s been really supportive”.
While The Ellen Wilkinson School For Girls in Acton also has plenty to cheer about after a third of all GCSE grades this year were A* and As.
“I would also like to pay tribute to the county’s schools for their tireless efforts in preparing students for their examinations”.
Among the best performing schools in the borough were Hornsey School for Girls where pupils achieved 500 A and A* grades; Fortismere, which saw 96 per cent of pupils taking English literature getting an A* to C, and Woodside High School, which saw a 30 per cent increase in grades.
“Most pupils have exceeded their personal targets and many have achieved a raft of A* and A grades”.
At Ysgol Glan Clwyd in St Asaph, 70% of pupils achieved the equivalent of more than five A*-C grades including Welsh or English and Mathematics.
Ysgol Brynhyfryd in Ruthin celebrated a set of best ever GCSE results, with 97% of pupils gaining the equivalent of five or more A*-C grades. An increase from 53% previous year.
GCSE students at Prestatyn High School also raised the bar with some outstanding individual performances.
Nationally, there is now more emphasis on pupils achieving the English Baccalaureate.

Mrs. McCloskey said the results were the culmination of “incredibly hard work from both Year 12 students and our teaching staff”.
