Beyonce and Blue Ivy were worth millions on MTV VMAs red carpet

Sunday’s ceremony featured a lengthy performance by Beyonce, a series of performances by Video Vanguard Award victor Rihanna, and musical numbers from Britney Spears & G-Eazy, The Chainsmokers & Halsey, Ariana Grande & Nicki Minaj and Nick Jonas & Ty Dolla $ign.

The 28-year old starlet opened last night’s show at Madison Square Garden with an upbeat medley of her greatest hits, including Please Don’t Stop the Music, Only Girl, We Found Love and Where Have You Been.

The 34-year-old singer last performed at the event nearly decade ago but was pumped with energy when she took to the stage at Madison Square Garden to show off her new single “Make Me.’ from her recently-dropped album ‘Glory”.

Drake spoke about the first time he met Rihanna when he was a nobody in the music world doing background music for Rihanna’s “Pon de Replay”. But the biggest moment for Rihanna came when Drake – in a tuxedo – presented the award to his former girlfriend.

“When I think about the Vanguard Award and receiving this tonight, all I could think of was my country”. And through it all, she did not forget her home country.

While some review’s called the mother-of-two’s comeback “triumphant”, some said Spears struggled to match Beyonce’s performance.

She also noted that while her success “started as my dream”, now “it is not my own”. She then made everyone’s jaw drop when she performed with G-Eazy. Not only did she lip sync, in typical fashion, but she did so badly.

Singer Beyonce Knowles and her daughter Blue Ivy walked the MTV Video Music Awards red carpet on Sunday (28Aug16) in clothes and jewellery worth over $13 million (£10 million).

Beyoncé’s “Formation”, Justin Bieber’s “Sorry”, Drake’s “Hotline Bling” and Adele’s “Hello” are also up for the top prize. “You have affected so many of our lives in the best way possible”, Drake captioned the post.
