After the fight McGregor announced “the king is back“. “If you want this trilogy, you’ll come down to 155 and fight on my terms”.

“I went up to 170 pounds, I fought the bigger man”.

“This was a hell of an important fight for me”, admitted McGregor, “Everyone from the media to the fighters wrote me off this one”.

Next up for McGregor may be a defense of his featherweight crown before taking on Diaz again.

After months of trading verbal barbs, and after the now infamous bottle/can throwing incident during the press conference, “The Notorious” Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz waged an epic war at UFC 202 last night in Las Vegas.

The persistent Diaz found his footing later in the second, though, unleashing a flurry of strikes and knocking McGregor against the fence.

Amidst endless speculation as to whether McGregor will make the drop to featherweight again, White has aid that McGregor will need to face Aldo, or he will be stripped of the belt.

McGregor forced the action early, landing multiple leg kicks to Diaz’s lead leg and a straight left that knocked Diaz down. Did you see me chasing him around (the Octagon) and pointing at him like, ‘Where are you going? Although McGregor was able to come away with the victory in the rematch, Diaz felt that he should have won. Before Lesnar, McGregor had the record with his $1 million purse at UFC 196.

McGregor targeted a trilogy battle with Diaz, but later said he was eyeing other opportunities first, leaving open the possibility of the much-mooted boxing clash with Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Speaking after the fight, McGregor addressed the scoring and claimed he was confident when the bout went to the scorecards. “It’s all good”, Diaz stressed in a separate interview with FOX Sports. He ran the whole fight, he should have got a yellow card for that.

Instead, the anticipated rematch was set for UFC 202. Diaz chimed in on this saying that he wanted it to be at 155 pounds since the second fight, according to The Mirror.
