The M20 in Kent has reopened to traffic after a crash in Kent where a lorry struck a footbridge crossing the motorway.
“We came to a standstill and saw everyone running towards the wreckage”, he told The Independent. “The back end of the lorry was in pieces”. “It really shook us up”.
“We are very close to the front”, the 31-year-old said.
The University of Kent lecturer, 41, said: “My instinct was just to drive through. It was incredible. It could have fallen right on top of our auto”.
The top of lorry was sheered and debris of the bridge scattered over the motorway. His injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.
A temporary 50mph limit is in place in the area on both carriageways. “Traffic will be heavier than usual”, it added.
All emergency services are en-route or in attendance and the scene is being managed by Kent Police. The South East Coast Ambulance Service said a motorcyclist in his 50s had been taken to hospital with suspected broken ribs.
The M20 remains closed between junctions two and four in both directions.
