Vikings host Chargers in new stadium debut

The Vikings practiced at U.S. Bank Stadium in preparation for Sunday’s preseason game against San Diego, their debut at the sparkling new venue. The only word from the Vikings’ sideline was his benching was a “coach’s decision” which led to theories that Bridgewater was being disciplined, or worse, hurt.

Adapted from Brazilian jiu-jitsu, the exercise required the Peterson and his workout partner, San Diego Chargers running back Melvin Gordon, to carry a football as they rolled themselves over a balance ball, regain their balance and sprint barefoot across a mat in Peterson’s gym in Houston. “That’s the only thing you can do in that situation”.

“It’s been going well”, Peterson said.

The party has sailed over to the new home of the Vikings, U.S. Bank Stadium.

“It’s a handsome place”, coach Mike Zimmer said, as purple-clad fans watched his postgame press conference from a lounge area the team walks through to reach the field. He’s used to running a certain way, so this gets him out of it. Eastern, will be televised nationally by FOX. His last three tosses were completions in a two-minute drill to Charles Johnson for 19 yards, to Stefon Diggs for 22 and to Kyle Rudolph for 27 and a touchdown. The Texans chose Fuller in the first round this year to take pressure off Pro Bowler DeAndre Hopkins, who was third in the National Football League with 1,521 yards receiving last season despite facing near constant double teams (see full recap).

Zimmer said a few players told him the surface was fine. “So, when they’re double-teaming guys, they stay on, stay on, stay on, and the cut might happen a little bit later than typically you see it coming downhill”. I have just learned that Teddy Bridgewater is experiencing some discomfort and soreness in his throwing shoulder and is being held out of tonight’s game as a precaution. The Chargers were 0-for-2, and the Vikings were only 1-for-5, thanks to a fumble recovery in the end zone by Cordarrelle Patterson. The Vikings went on to defeat the Chargers 31-14.

Berger started both preseason games at right guard in place of the injured Brandon Fusco, but Fusco has returned enabling Berger to shift back to center for now.

Chargers: Besides Oliver, RT Joe Barksdale also came out of the game in the first half, limping off with a left ankle injury.

It is an important tradition that the Vikings have honored since 1961, which started at the old Metropolitan stadium; there, fans were in the parking lot before the games.
