Colin Kaepernick’s Controversial Decision Won’t Affect Current Sponsors

Kaepernick grabbed the national spotlight Friday night when he chose to sit down during the playing of the national anthem just prior to the start of the game.

MI coach Jim Harbaugh didn’t mince words when asked Monday about the recent protest made by his former quarterback Colin Kaepernick. After the game, he told reporters that he sat because he didn’t want to show pride in a country that oppresses people of color.

Meanwhile, Philadelphia Eagles rookie linebacker Myke Tavarres told ESPN that he will sit during the anthem ceremony Thursday night in a preseason home game against the New York Jets. Rosenhaus did not believe it would jeopardize his current endorsements with Nike Inc (NYSE: NKE), Apple Inc.’s (NASDAQ: AAPL) Beats By Dre, and MusclePharm Corp (OTC: MSLP).

The 49ers organization says it respects Kaepernick’s right to the First Amendment.

On Monday, the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) said it supported Kaepernick, along with “every other American who has defended an unpopular opinion. I’m a big Blaine Gabbert fan now”.

“I think it would be more accurate to say he doesn’t agree with the issues and the problems with the country that are being put in the back seat”.

In some other quarters, people are praising the biracial QB (obviously raised well by Rick and Teresa Kaepernick) for taking a stand against state sanctioned violence against black people in this country and getting away with it.

Meanwhile, Kaepernick is unwavering in his protest.

“I apologize for misspeaking my true sentiments”. There are a lot things that are going on that are unjust.

I hate what Colin Kaepernick is doing.

Gabbert’s take on Kaepernick: “The attractive thing about this country is everyone is afforded the right to their own opinion”.

Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman said he respected Kaepernick for speaking out, even if he wasn’t sure about the methods. “That’s insane. I mean, someone that’s holding a curling iron has more education and more training than people [that] have a gun and are going out on the street to protect us”.
