Colin Kaepernick Will Continue to Sit During the National Anthem
Since San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick made the decision to sit during the national anthem at a preseason game, controversy has ensued from people all across the country, including the NFL community. Following a team practice Sunday, Kaepernick defended his actions, telling reporters he’ll continue to remain seated during the song in order to bring awareness to racial injustice and police brutality.

Isner said he respected Kaepernick’s aim of drawing attention to racial inequality in America, but thought the National Football League player’s refusal to stand for the Star Spangled Banner prior to a preseason game was a poor means of protest. May you seek God’s forgiveness and find humility, because we the people are not going to forget what you did and said. Kaepernick said, “There are bodies in the street and people getting paid leave and getting away with murder”. “That’s not right. That’s not right by anyone’s standards”.
In a press conference Tuesday morning, Kelly said he plans to play Kaepernick against the San Deigo Chargers on Tuesday night instead of Blaine Gabbert.
I have family, I have friends that have gone and fought for this country. The game went into overtime and ended with the Bison of NDSU winning 24-17.
“What should horrify Americans is not Kaepernick’s choice to remain seated during the national anthem, but that almost 50 years after Ali was banned from boxing for his stance and Tommie Smith and John Carlos’s raised fists caused public ostracization and numerous death threats, we still need to call attention to the same racial inequities”, Abdul-Jabbar wrote in the Washington Post on Tuesday.
“I think when you really take in context and see where he’s coming from”.
Or perhaps you can ask the two California senators, Boxer and Feinstein, about who doesn’t support better education opportunities for black children in the inner cities-school choice, vouchers, charter schools, homeschooling. I mean, we have a presidential candidate who’s deleted emails and done things illegally and is a presidential candidate. That doesn’t make sense to me.
Miami Dolphins running back Arian Foster, who has been supportive of Kaepernick’s stance, tweeted that Stewart should have directly addressed Kaepernick with any concerns.
By refusing to stand for the national anthem, American football player Colin Kaepernick has been slammed for politicizing sport and even accused of being unpatriotic, but he’s just the latest black athlete to protest USA race relations. According to Yahoo, the team hasn’t been pleased with Kaepernick’s recovery and it hoped he would adapt quickly and reinvigorate his career under Kelly’s quick-firing offense. For now it appears that at least his teammates respect his decision.
Fans, however, are a different story.

In college at Nevada, Kaepernick said, police were called one day “because we were the only black people in that neighborhood”. Seems like the man can’t help causing a stir even when he doesn’t intend to.
