New drone regulations now in effect
New rules kicked in regulating the commercial use of drones and, it’s a game changer.

“These aircraft truly have the potential to transform how we fly and they also offer many potential benefits to society”, Secretary of Transportation Anthony Foxx said Monday at a briefing on the new law.
Drone operators had to seek special waivers from the FAA earlier, a time-consuming and expensive process, to use UAVs for business.
“The knowledge is great and it’s really helpful and important for drone users but not everything you learn in flying an airplane is the same as flying a drone”, Parrott said.
They can transmit the photos taken from their drone to produce 3-D images that pinpoint damage even further.
Starting Monday, commercial drone pilots do not have to have a valid FAA pilot’s license. Companies can only fly drones 30 minutes after sunrise until 30 minutes before sunset. “Drones are something that I think will have a big future in the roofing industry as well as the insurance industry and crops and agriculture”.
The news comes amid an expected surge of growth in the drone industry: Integrating drones into the airspace could generate $82 billion for the USA economy over the next 10 years, according to industry estimates. But some critics raise concerns about the lack of space to operate safely in metropolitan areas across the country. Drone operators would also need to qualify for flying certificates and be at least 16 years old.
The FAA said that the lure of drones is so strong that it expects licensed drone operators to exceed the number of licensed private pilots (171,000) within one year.
Virtuance added drone services two years ago, Corn said.
According to Jason Forte, VP operations with Sky-Futures, new FAA regulations governing drone use will have little impact on the niche market of oil and gas.
On the first day the rules were in effect the FAA had already granted 76 exemptions, a lot of them to companies that want to fly drones at night, Huerta said.
The drones can only be used during the day and can only be flown over someone related to the flight.
“The only barrier there, it wasn’t the technology, the only barrier was regulations”, Anderson said.

“We believe it will allow innovation to flourish while maintaining the highest level of safety in the world’s busiest and most complex aviation system”, said Huerta.
