The State Senate could also vote on the nomination Tuesday.

Beemer told senators he hopes to restore a sense of honor and integrity to Pennsylvania’s top law enforcement office.

Beemer, who once served as Kane’s top deputy, was recommended to fill the position by Governor Tom Wolf roughly two weeks ago, after Kane’s trial shook Pennsylvania politics and found her guilty on nine counts, including perjury, obstruction of justice and abuse of office.

The State Senate will reconvene in special session Tuesday for a hearing on the nomination of Inspector General Bruce Beemer for Attorney General.

Beemer was in the Capitol meeting with senators and was to be sworn in later Tuesday in Wolf’s offices after a Senate vote. “It’s going to be sort of like putting building blocks one on top of each other”.

Beemer would not say whether he would release the report publicly, saying he had not seen it and that people named in it must be afforded due process.

Kane, the first Democrat and female elected attorney general, resigned August 17, two days after a Montgomery County judge found her guilty of lying under oath about a grand jury leak she orchestrated to hurt rivals.

Beemer is expected to return to the inspector general’s post in late January.

In a joint statement earlier this month, Senate President Pro Tempore Joe Scarnati and Majority Leader Jake Corman gave Beemer their approval.

Beemer, the former top deputy to Kane, was promoted into the post by Kane, but he later clashed publicly with her and provided testimony that helped prosecutors to convict her.

He had opposed actions taken by Kane after her law license was suspended a year ago.
