380-mile range for biggest-ever Tesla Model S battery
The Model S P100D with Ludicrous mode is the third-fastest accelerating production vehicle in existence, going from 0-60 miles per hour in 2.5 seconds in max power mode.

Tuesday, Tesla announced that a new 100-kilowatt-hour battery would deliver 315 miles on the EPA cycle and accelerate up to 60 mph faster than falling off the roof when equipped with Ludicrous mode.
The new 100-kilowatt-hour battery pack means the high-end version of the Model S sedan, called the P100D, will be the world’s quickest accelerating vehicle in production, the automaker said.
Ferrari and Porsche take notice – Tesla’s new electric auto might outlap you soon. Model X is an SUV that can seat up to seven adults. With a new 100kWh battery system which not only provides more power than the P90D predecessor, it’s also able to provide a longer range.
Tesla Motors says a version of the Model S electric auto is now the quickest production vehicle in the world from zero to 60 miles per hour.
The Tesla Model S sedan is now the third-fastest vehicle in the world, the luxury electric automaker announced Tuesday.
The high prices are part of the wider strategy of Elon Musk, Tesla’s chief executive, the company believes. Ludicrous mode is, of course, also included in both models, and those performance numbers are with that mode’s performance-heightened settings.

Musk adds that customers willing to pay for such high-end developments are essential to funding more affordable cars such as the forthcoming Model 3. The Model X P100D with Ludicrous mode starts at $135,500. The Model X P100D Ludicrous now boasts a range of 289 miles. Those awaiting a preexisting P90D order can have the battery upgraded for a not-so-paltry $10,000.
