Notting Hill Carnival: Four Stabbings And More Than 300 Arrests
The Mayor of London has been urged to launch a wide-ranging review into the future of the Notting Hill Carnival, after the local MP said the event risked turning into a “crime fest”, and police chiefs complained it had become unsafe for officers.

The majority of arrests this year were related to drugs offences or weapons, police said.
On Sunday a 15-year-old boy was stabbed in Wornington Road and a 14-year-old was arrested.
Police said they had arrested 71 people at the event by 7pm for a variety of alleged offences.
Scotland Yard said there were 156 arrests on Sunday and 298 on Monday.

More than one million people were expected to attend the celebrations in West London today, in a day dedicated to children and families.

Later that afternoon, two boys aged 15 and 16 sustained stab wounds at Ladbroke Grove. It quickly grew and this year’s edition featured 60 bands and 38 sound systems.

A man also alerted police he had been stabbed in Kensal Rise and had a cut on his head, but he would not give any further details to officers.

Teacher Jan Harvey, who is originally from Jamaica, said: “Everybody is enjoying themselves, there is no trouble and there is a good atmosphere”.
