Bryan Stork heads back to Patriots after another odd twist

Unfortunately, for Bryan Stork, he won’t be playing for either the Washington Redskins or New England Patriots this season.

The Patriots gave up a fifth-round pick in 2017 for Barkevious Mingo last week, so to lose a chance at another draft spot is a bit disconcerting though it is certainly not the end of the world for them.

In each of the last four years, dating back to his senior season at Florida State, Stork has sustained a concussion. Along the way, the Patriots’ coaching staff (guided by un-retired OL coach Dante Scarnecchia) committed to second-year veteran David Andrews as the starting center going forward.

The Patriots meant to release Stork last Wednesday before finding a trade partner in the Redskins. It just will not be with New England.

It was stated that a displeased Stork tried to land a few punches at Bears linebacker John Timu. Bill Belichick noted after the Panthers game that the competition was tight at this position and that the Patriots were asking Knighton to do “different things than he’s been used to doing”.

Perhaps these are the reasons why the Patriots chose to dispose of Stork for good.

So in the span of five days, Stork was almost released, traded, considered retiring, decided not to, failed his physical, and now will likely be released by New England. He was also a member of the Patriots squad that won the Super Bowl XLIX in 2014 in his rookie year in the NFL. There’s a lot of movement between teams and players and everything.

The Patriots are aiming to reclaim the championship in the 2016 season after failing to defend it last season when they were damaged by injuries. It’s tough to see one of your guys go like that.
