David Luiz set for stunning Chelsea return

Chelsea have made a stunning attempt to bring David Luiz back to Stamford Bridge, reports say.

The Brazilian cost £50m, a world record fee for a defender, but may not be part of the plans of new PSG manager, Unai Emery.

The Brazil worldwide left for Paris Saint-Germain in June 2014 for £50million – a world record fee for a defender – yet he is ready to return to London in a surprise transfer. The centre-half was best known for his driving runs, superb free-kicks and, perhaps most of all, his huge hair.

Chelsea have reportedly had bids for AC Milan’s Alessio Romagnoli, and Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly, turned down, and will instead turn their attention to Luiz – after also missing out on his PSG teammate Marquinhos.

With John Terry and Branislav Ivanovic already into their 30’s, Conte seems to be thinking about the future as he looks to bring in youth at the back.

And that is claimed to have led Chelsea to a familiar face in the shape of Luiz.

A dead ball specialist, there have been strong doubts about Luiz’s defensive abilities in the past and he has frequently played in the midfield as a result.
