VMAs Plummet on MTV, Sister Networks
MTV’s Video Music Awards may have been the talk of Twitter Sunday night, but the music show failed to draw a television audience on par with past installments. I ran the largest and best police department in the world, the New York City Police Department.

Sunday’s telecast fell to 6.5 million viewers despite Viacom pumping it across 11 cable networks (MTV, MTV2, MTV Classic, VH1, Comedy Central, Spike, TV Land, BET, CMT, Centric, and Logo) – that’s typically the sort of cross-network bombardment you only see for presidential debate, or State of the Union address.
During her debut VMAs performance, Spears, 34, worked a purple two-piece outfit before Justin Timberlake, JC Chasez, Lance Bass, Joey Fatone and Chris Kirkpatrick joined her on stage to perform their hit “Tearin’ Up My Heart”. He said he met Rihanna in 2005 on the set of her first music video for “Pon De Replay”.
Toward the end of his speech, Drake referred to Rihanna as “someone I’ve been in love with since I was 22 years old”, before handing her the award and trying to kiss her. But the biggest moment for Rihanna came when Drake – in a tuxedo – presented the award to his former girlfriend.
Who could forget that! Britney Spears shared during an interview with Elvis Duran and the Z Morning Zoo on Monday, August 29, that she doesn’t remember her first-ever MTV VMAs performance 17 years ago.
Then she performed hits “Needed Me”, “Pour It Up”, and “B– Better Have My Money”. Grande cycled while singing and was backed by female dancers imitating her, while her male dancers lifted dumbbells and did other exercises.

In an ode to the Olympic Games just past, Michael Phelps said he’s been inspired by hip-hop music before introducing Future, who Phelps said he listened to before swimming and making the grimace that went viral. “You have affected so many of our lives in the best way possible”, Drake captioned the post.
