Spike Jonze debuts wild perfume ad starring Margaret Qualley
Finally, brand Kenzo has answered the call; teaming up with Being John Malkovich and Her director Spike Jonze for a perfume ad of a very different breed. It is here that she breaks into a 3-minute-long expressive dance, which consists of flips, shooting lasers, and licking statues.

You may know Qualley from her roles in The Leftovers or The Nice Guys. The showstopper is a crane shot that follows her up the grand staircase, lets her cross into a close-up at the landing, slows down as she outruns the camera into a full-length shot for some dress-swinging madness, then floats dizzyingly backward while four Margaret Qualleys race upward into the Escherian space created by the building’s mirrors.
Qualley’s groove is also reminiscent of another famous Jonze contribution: Christopher Walken’s epic hotel dance session in the video to Fatboy Slim’s “Weapon of Choice”.
The track was premiered with a worthy visual component from Oscar-winning filmmaker Spike Jonze featuring model, actress and now dancer Margaret Qualley.
The choreography, which includes Qualley beating her chest and moving her limbs uncontrollably to the song “Mutant Brain” by Ape Drums and Jonze’s brother DJ Sam Spiegel, was the work of Ryan Heffington, who is also the choreographer behind Sia’s “Chandelier” video with Shia LaBeouf and Maddie Ziegler.
One of the more thrilling perfume commercials in recent memory. “But it’s so over the top, it can’t help but leave you entertained”.

“When we think about perfume campaigns, we think about a pretty girl with a bottle”, Lim and Leon told Dazed.
