Trevor Siemian gets Broncos’ starting spot for National Football League opener against Panthers
Siemian learned Kubiak’s West Coast offense a year ago when he had a birds-eye view of the Broncos’ QB conundrum that required the coach to gather his team every Monday from mid-November on to inform the players whether Manning or Brock Osweiler would start. Broncos coach Gary Kubiak made the announcement in a team meeting Monday morning that Siemian would start September 8 in the team’s regular-season opener against the Carolina Panthers. And now he may need to find himself a new home for the 2016 season. He is slated to make $4.5 million dollars if he remains on the Broncos roster and also will cost the team the seventh-round pick.

Siemian hit Sanders for 17 yards on the first play and then completed passes for 5 and 7 yards to Virgil Green and Demaryius Thomas, respectively, putting the Broncos in Rams territory in just three plays. He has grown as a passer and now, with just one regular season snap under his belt, will take over the offense.
“I’m impressed – I think he’s very calm, ” Kubiak said of Siemian after the game. Siemian was adopted by rookie Lynch in to Saturdays match as the quarter back that was No2, and Sanchez failed to play.
The Denver Broncos have found their starter for the opening game of the season, naming Trevor Siemian today. While those aren’t spectacular numbers it could have been worse which it’s no surprise that Sanchez was the front runner for the Broncos job with his only competition being Siemian and Lynch.
Reportedly the Broncos like the poise that Siemian has shown during training camp. Of course Mark [Sanchez] and Paxton [Lynch] are going to be the headlines, but Trevor knows the offense. Im amazed, I believe hes quite composed, Kubiak stated. This Thursday, in the team’s final preseason game, it appears he will not play. He finished the preseason with a passer rating of just 70.4 – the lowest of any Broncos quarterback – but demonstrated to Kubiak an ability to quickly learn from mistakes and rally his teammates.
It’s reasonable to think the Broncos would want to keep Sanchez around but at a smaller price. Also, C.J. Anderson gets a small bump up in the rankings when you consider the fact that Denver should be able to move the ball a little more with Siemian.

Siemian was an afterthought even after Manning’s retirement and Osweiler departed in free agency.
