Schweinsteiger says MLS could be option if unused at Man U

Schweinsteiger reiterated his stated intention not to transfer to another team in Europe, saying he had had a “respectful” discussion with Mourinho, who has dropped him from the first team at the Premier League club.

“In the past year, things went well (at Man Utd) until I was banned (from the first-team)”.

He said in a press conference: “My absolute dream would be to play for Manchester United and help them to achieve their goals”.

Ibrahimovic scored in his opening three competitive games for United, though he was held at bay by Hull’s defense as United maintained its flawless start to the English Premier League under Mourinho.

“Now one just has to wait and see how things go in September and October, and what might develop”, he said.

United were willing to let Keane move before the close of the transfer window with the former England under-21 worldwide well down the pecking order in Jose Mourinho’s plans.

Keane came up through the Manchester United academy and has made a pair of appearances for the senior side, as well as spending time on loan at Wigan, QPR, Sheffield Wednesday and Preston North End. “But of course, the United States is an option”.

Less than half of the 43,000 tickets available have been sold.

“I am looking forward to the evening”, he said.

“I don’t know how many minutes I’ll be able to play”.

Schweinsteiger will play his last match for the national team on Wednesday in Moenchengladbach, Germany.
