U.S. vocalist Chris Brown has been arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon after a woman told police she had been threatened by him with a gun.

KNBC reported the arrest comes after what is being called a 10-hour standoff between Brown and officers with the Los Angeles Police Department.

Los Angeles police have been called to singer Chris Brown’s home.

Brown has responded to the allegations in a video, in which he claims he’s “innocent” and rants against the police and the media’s portrayal of him. It’s always going to be “fuck the police”.

Claiming that he’d just woken up to find officers surrounding his house, Brown protested his innocence – as well as saying that the authorities wouldn’t find anything in a house search – before voicing his support for the Black Lives Matter movement and then declaring “fuck the police”.

“What I do care about is you are defacing my name and my character and integrity”, he added, saying he had done nothing wrong and criticising police actions. “I don’t care y’all going to stay playing with me like I’m the villain out here, like I’m going insane”.

The vocalist has several convictions for violence, including a 2009 assault pop star Rihanna, on his then girlfriend.

Mr Brown came from his house after a standoff with police on Tuesday.

The day came to its conclusion when the people within Brown’s home exited and Brown was arrested by the LAPD.

In 2014, he pleaded guilty to assaulting a man outside a Washington hotel and earlier this year was accused of battery by a woman in Las Vegas.

After several missteps, Brown completed his probation in that case previous year.

Brown spent 2½ months in custody, with USA marshals shuttling him between Los Angeles and the nation’s capital for court hearings.

In another incident while in treatment, Brown was accused of throwing a brick at his mother’s vehicle following a counseling session. This was after Brown had completed court-ordered anger management classes.
