When news broke that Anthony Weiner was at it again – sexting a sordid photo of himself to an unidentified woman while he was babysitting his 4-year-old son – and that his wife, Huma Abedin, Hillary’s closest aide, had finally had enough, something rang a bell.

The film, to air October 22 at 9 p.m. EDT, follows the former congressman as he runs for New York City mayor in 2013, two years after he quit Congress when it was revealed he was sending women sexually explicit messages on social media.

Ms Abedin, who married Mr Weiner in 2010, has stood by her husband for six years throughout his run for NY mayor, during which he was exposed twice – in 2011 and 2013 – for sending pictures of his bulging underwear and using crude language. Shortly thereafter, Abedin announced her decision.

“After long and painful consideration and work on my marriage, I have made the decision to separate from my husband”, Abedin said in a statement to the press. He deleted his Twitter account Monday.

“My compass was my job”, she said.

The report further hinted that Weiner and his alleged female virtual friend in sexting escapade exchanged photos that include an image of the woman wearing a red lace dress with a cleavage-baring layout and a shot showing her in a pair of black tights with a rip near the rear midline.

At the State Department, Abedin served as a jack-of-all-trades to Clinton, helping her with everything from scheduling meetings and arranging phone calls around the globe to offering fashion advice.

I recalled that two years ago, in a book that I wrote titled “Blood Feud”, I wrestled with the odd Weiner-Abedin-Clinton triangle.

Abedin’s behind-the-scenes role has often drawn unwanted attention. Federal prosecutors ultimately declined to issue charges in the cases.

Crown Prince Salman had made a $32 million commitment to the Clinton Global Initiative, a program run by the foundation.

Abedin’s marriage has also come under fire from Clinton’s Republican opponent Donald Trump, who immediately seized on the aide’s marital split to accuse Clinton of “bad judgment”. “Huma is making a very wise decision”, he said in a statement. “It is possible that our country and its security have been greatly compromised by this”.
