Kubiak will pick his Week One starter next week
Sanchez, who started the opening preseason matchup, watched the first quarter from the bench in the second game, as Trevor Siemian showed glimpses of potential, until a bad interception reminded he’s just a second-year player without any pedigree.

However, with just 17 days until the Broncos’ season-opener against the Carolina Panthers, Denver’s starting quarterback spot is wide open.
Kubiak remains quiet in the last few weeks but after Saturday’s game, he hinted that Lynch could win the job.
“It’s down to the nitty gritty here”, Kubiak said. Sanchez draws a bigger paycheck and has substantially more experience as an National Football League quarterback than Siemian.
Because of all of this, the Broncos simply don’t need much from him.
“That’s Mark; he’s a competitive guy”, Kubiak said Monday.
“No, I expected it, ” he said.
Brown, a seventh-round draft pick past year, started the final two games his rookie season. One has one regular-season snap.
But Gary Kubiak keeps saying it’s open, and that the rookie out of Memphis is going to give the more experienced players, even Sanchez who seemed like a lock for the #1 QB job the moment he was signed. “I don’t have to but I’m going to make a decision next week and we’re going to go to work”. They played one quarter each in the first game, a bit more of the second game.
Colin Kaepernick threw dozens of passes on the side during the 49ers’ joint practice Thursday with the Denver Broncos, signaling the quarterback’s return from a sore passing shoulder. Sanchez threw an interception in his first preseason game at Chicago, then lost two fumbles in the red zone Saturday against the 49ers.
49ers: RB Mike Davis, in the mix for the right to back up starter Carlos Hyde, ran five times for 26 yards but also had two fumbles.
Kubiak said he has done what he can to make the competition fair, right down to the number of plays Siemian and Sanchez get with the first-team offense.
Saturday was Trevor Siemian’s turn to start for the Broncos and he played well, despite being picked by 49ers safety Eric Reid, who returned it 42 yards for a touchdown. After seeing a handful of first-team repetitions last Saturday, he worked with the third team for almost all of the rest of training camp, with a smattering of second-team repetitions sprinkled into his workload. His big mistake was a awful decision that led to 49ers safety Eric Reid to jump the intended pass to Demaryius Thomas take it back for a touchdown.
The team brought Mark Sanchez in via free agency to settle the position this offseason.
Sanchez was considered insurance in case the Broncos didn’t find a better option. The Week 1 starter probably won’t be announced until after preseason wraps up. Yet Siemian appears to be currying more and favor with the Broncos’ coaching staff, showing potent chemistry with wideouts Demaryius Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders during training camp.

The rookie, Lynch, has put himself in consideration to be the team’s backup if Siemian wins the starting job.
