Chinese Embassy was Attacked in Kyrgyzstan

The Chinese embassy in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan was attacked on Tuesday when a vehicle armed with an explosive device crashed through the embassy gates and detonated.

Abdyldaev said the Kyrgyz side condemned the suicide attack “in the strongest terms”, and that on behalf of the Kyrgyz leaders, he conveyed sympathy to the Chinese embassy and those injured in the attack.

China’s Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying also confirmed at a press conference that three people of the Chinese embassy were injured in the attack. “China demanded that Kyrgyz authorities take all necessary measures to ensure the safety of Chinese institutions and personnel in Kyrgyzstan, launch a thorough investigation to find out the truth of the incident and harshly punish the perpetrators”.

The Kyrgyz government has increased security around all embassy locations in Bishkek, as well as in other areas of the city which could be considered targets.

The government of Kyrgyzstan quickly condemned the “heinous terrorist attack” and launched an investigation into the identity of the suicide auto bomber.

According to the local medics in an explosion one woman and two staff of Chinese embassy were slashed while the driver was killed.

Both nations labelled it a terrorist attack and it comes as China prepares to host the Group of 20 summit this weekend in Hangzhou.

The man gained access to the compound by ramming through the gates, before the vehicle exploded approximately 160 feet inside.

The authorities regularly announce that they have foiled attacks planned by IS in the country.

Xinhua said the explosion damaged the embassy door and wall and buildings next to the embassy.

Local residents told AFP that the blast had blown intheir windows and caused their houses to shake.

Employees from the Chinese and nearby United States embassy on the edge of the city were evacuated, the Kyrgyz emergency service said.

Kyrgyzstan also borders the Chinese region of Xinjiang, which has witnessed a series of violent attacks in recent years which the government has blamed on separatist militants.

Kyrgyzstan is a former Soviet republic of 6 million people where authorities have previously arrested suspected Daesh terrorists.

In 2014, border guards in Kyrgyzstan killed 11 people believed to be from a Uighur militant group that had illegally crossed China’s border.
